Workshops
We also run weekend workshops on Control & Restraint, Ground Fighting and/or Ground Self Defence, other Styles of Martial Arts, as well as, various Kata, Theory, History and proper ethical and moral codes of behaviour, etc. These are extra to the main syllabus but are very helpful in building a well rounded martial artist  and  certificates are issued when appropriate.

Grades from other Styles of Martial Arts
We recognise previous achievements and qualifications in the Martial Arts and you are welcome to wear your Uniform and current Belt from your previous or existing Style. You will be asked for verification of your current credentials. You can of course also start back at an earlier level if you prefer.

Required Fitness Level (RFL)
There is a RFL dependant on age, sex and any permanent disibilities.
The standard of fitness needed increases with  every grade in Kempo from Green Belt onwards. For grades lower than this there is a desired fitness level only.
Once a student reaches Black Belt level the RFL from then on stays the same.
The standards are loosely based on those of the New Zealand Army and Police with some variations of our own.
There is a RFL assessment done every year which is mandatory for those students who chose to go through the graded belt system.
